Inconel 718 sheets are known for their excellent impact and tensile strength. Along with this strength, Inconel 718 stands out from other materials in maintaining high weldability. In many alloys, there is a significant tradeoff between strength and welding performance. Inconel 718 sheets provide high levels of both properties, along with resistance to post-weld cracking.
In addition to high strength and ductility, this super alloy is used in a wide variety of applications due to the wide range of temperatures it can withstand. Inconel 718 demonstrates reliability in extremely cold and high-heat applications. These properties make Inconel 718 sheets a popular choice for numerous applications. The sheets are used in hot extrusion tooling and parts, such as:
- Fuel tanks
- Aircraft & rocket engine components
- Casings
- Fasteners
- Instrumentation components
- Nuclear fuel element spacers
- Rings
- Seals
Inconel 718 sheets are also frequently used in fabricating components for a number of industries, including aircraft, aerospace and defense. Parts and components commonly made from Inconel 718 include: cryogenic storage tanks, turbines, nuclear fuel element spacers, pump body components, a/c engine and rocket engine parts.
In addition to sheet, Altemp Alloys is a leading supplier of Inconel 718 plate, bars and forgings. Altemp Alloys also stocks a number of other high temperature alloys including stainless steel alloys, HX, X-750, Inconel 625, HS 188 and Rene 41.
